Resolved Question: Is it wrong to feel bad for making the right decision?

my friend Alex dumped his boyfriend Ryan cause he has Schizophrenia. I guess things were getting pretty bad for Ryan, But my friend Alex just sort of left him, he didn't "deal with that". I understand why he didn't. he didn't want to get dragged down. but it seems heartless but it makes sense. I think things got worse for Ryan, and all Alex could say was "phew, I dodge that train wreck, lets go to olive garden."
