Open Question: problems shifting gears with manual transmission?

I have a 97 dodge neon with a manual transmission and a cable type clutch. The clutch is only like 4 years old and Im not sure if the problems im having are clutch related but recently and this happend out of nowhere, all of my gears take a slight second to shift in. The clutch pedal effort is the same as normal and I inspected the shifter links and clutch cable and they look good. The fluid in the trans is clean and at the right level. Could it be that the clutch cable needs adjustment? IDK what could be causing this I mean I can get it into all gears but i step on the clutch then try to shift into gear but the shifter wont let the gear go in till like one or two seconds later.
