-friend (female) is faking a boyfriend (who DOES NOT exist) -i am 100% sure he is invisible/imaginary, and she is the 'guy' -this is all occurring over facebook (facebook "___ is dating ____") -it has gone to the extreme where "he" is buying her "$150 gifts" within 1 week of "dating" -she has 10 other "fake" friends on her facebook that like her comments, pictures, etc. -these fake friends have pics from tumblr, deviantart, etc. -she has photoshopped a fake webcam conversation between her and this guy (she doesnt even have a webcam. i asked her if we could cam and she just said NO; no excuses) -LOTS of flaws in her "stories" and "meetings" with him (i'm concerned that her 10 fake friends have metastasized into this fabricated boyfriend) -asked for a pic of them together (a very common thing), and she deleted the comment. when asked about it, she shrugged it off and replied, "what comment?" (obviously she's dodging the question) I really just want to straight up ask her if he exists, but how should I approach this situation? he must be deprived of some sort of love..or doing this for attention........but more than anything, I feel somewhat betrayed (and I know if her other friends find out, this would spread like wildfire). i don't want to risk our friendship (her other friends seem to believe it) , but at the same time, if this is all due to a self confidence issue, i really want to be there for her and help her out. Something tells me that this may have something to due with past bullying from her 'frenemy' ... once again, i'm not trying to embarass her. i want to talk things out with her if she's having these lonely feelings....
